Here's a twenty
Reading an entertaining post about classic Hollywood and Clark Gable, and in the middle of it, I come across this anecdote about actress Loretta Young:
THAT IS AWESOME.
Young was by all accounts an early version of Mandy Moore in Saved!, only minus the praise songs and feathered hair. Case in point: She carried around a “swear jar” on set and demanded that every time someone cursed on set, he/she pay a quarter “for the nuns.” (Spencer Tracy’s reply: “Here’s a twenty, sister. Go fuck yourself.”)
THAT IS AWESOME.

Ghost in the Machine
By now, almost anyone with twitter has probably played around with That Can Be My Next Tweet. I know I did, and it's sorcery, I tell ya! What it lacks in syntax and correct grammar, it more than makes up for in accuracy and humor. Here are a few from my twitter feed (with comments):
I'm game! OMG, y'all. the landing. They're all makes sense now. I'm worried about Firefly.
Excitement, southern twang and concern about Firefly. It's as if twitter existed in September of 2002.
Just watched that Nationals game in their databases. Happy Birthday Richard Dawkins.
Being where I am, I watch a lot of MASN/Nationals games in order to actually watch the Braves. Apparently, I'm Neo and can jack into the Matrix to see them now. Can I use my godlike powers to move Jason Heyward up in the batting order? Oh, and of course, happy birthday to one of the few beacons of reason in our increasingly deluded culture.
That's the Buffster, but I'll get home can't remember fretting about REM Don't got back and very!
I'm worried again, but at least I can't recall it. And suddenly, I'm hearing my favorite band sing "Don't Go Back To Sunnydale."
Fringe was thoughtful, honest response. That word irks me at the beginning.
Another geek show reference. I'm sensing a pattern. Irked, I am!
EST? Or CST? You HAVE seen all been a TARDIS on tonight. Featuring Mr. Blue Sky, my largest knowledge.
Does an Eastern or Central time zone really matter if you have a TARDIS? Didn't think so. And apparently, I am the world's foremost authority on ELO songs.
Just finished participating in her to be a dream? Hmmmm. If camping, I'm worried about Angel S3 last.
Again, I'm WORRIED about my geeky genre television! I hope it doesn't get canceled, dammit! (And if I'm "participating in her," I wonder if she knows? Or maybe she's just like Mal in Inception. I can say with authority that my dreamscape wouldn't include camping).
Truly laid the title. No spell-check at work, and then again, he's awesome in another state.
Evidently, I'm prone to typos in the office. And I was kinda awesome in another state.
Bill collectors looking for TOS shows. Sketchier rumors/urban legend for Hamlet.
Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not an accountant! And did the Danish Prince say "bloody Mary" three times into a mirror?
Exceptions? Maybe the Pink Floyd. I understand current plots. Did an acid trip.
Okay, an acid trip certainly helps you understand Pink Floyd. Howdy, Sid!
Kinda like Caprica though I do we Yanks treated the only Holly Holiday. A new Showtime series with?
Perhaps Showtime is starting a new show in England, with Gwyneth Paltrow as a killer robot intent on destroying humanity. Talk about typecasting.

Mirthy Quote
Was reading a roundup of end-of-year picks on Vulture (whole thing here) and got to this quote, which made me giggle uncontrollably:
That's all there is to the quote. But it really should finish...."on the other hand...well...there is no other hand."

Okay, I'll tune in now.
Everyone has those actors that just grate on you. They may be talented. They may appear in shows you like and watch regularly. They may be a terrific person in real life. But for whatever reason, whenever they appear on the screen, they instantly make you want to change the channel.
For me, one of those actors is Eric Balfour.
He's been in programs that I like, such as Buffy, 24 and Six Feet Under. But there's just something about him, and his performances, that rubs me the wrong way.
So I was mildly aware of a new show coming up on SyFy called Haven, based on a Stephen King short story. In fact, I had it on my list of Summer TV Shows to Check Out. I hadn't heard any casting information on it, and last night, I was watching the season premiere of Warehouse 13 (great fun!), and saw a commercial for it. They showed the primary stars of the program, and lo and behold, there he was...Eric Balfour. I then tweeted this:

I was going to come home tonight and remove my season pass for Haven, and then this popped up on my twitter feed:

Now, this isn't a verified account, but at first glance, it appears authentic. I couldn't help but giggle at his response, and self-effacing good humor.
So you know what? I will not be deleting my Haven season pass. You've earned yourself a tune-in, Mr. Balfour, and a viewing with an open mind. Best of luck with the show.

Obama not fit to be President
He didn't know the name of Conan's deity, nor could he answer three "simple" Dune trivia questions. For shame.
I keed, I keed.
Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, if you're a nerd, you have to at least be heartened by Big O's proud embrace of his geeky background. (The man gave Leonard Nimoy the Vulcan salute!)
And you'll also enjoy Nerd High Priest John Hodgman's performance at the Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner:
Obviously, I'd feel better about things if the man with the keys to the launch codes knew what a "thumper" was, or the purpose of the "water of life," but at this point, why quibble.

I'll take potpourri for $5,800, Alex
io9 has a good summary of "Evil Corporations." I actually have t-shirts for Blue Sun, Weyland-Yutani and Cyberdyne Systems. (I wanted to link to the video from the Angel episode "Harm's Way," with featured a Wolfram & Hart new employee orientation video, but I couldn't find it online. In it, you see that the evil law firm represents many of the companies listed here. Funny stuff).
MoMass has seen his draft stock improve lately. Good for him. I think he'll make a very good possession receiver in the NFL. (And good god, he did everything -- except make a tackle -- to keep us in that last regular season game of which we shall not speak). Several folks put him now with the Bears.
Awwwwww.
Some good behind the scenes stuff from Mo Ryan on CSI's totally geektastic episode on Thursday. And Hodges? I don't care how much you love your job, if Wendy wants you to come over to watch sci-fi, the answer is always YES.
Coverage of Dollhouse at last week's PaleyFest.
Hilarious! "Uncomfortable Plot Summaries".
Empire looks at 5 shows that should be movies. Good ideas, no?
Jane Espenson talks to AMC about Caprica. On DVD next week, right?
Brian Austin Green talks to CBR about T:TSCC. Prison Break did even worse than TSCC and Dollhouse on Friday. Good news for our favorite sci-fi shows? Or does this just mean FOX will go back to cheap reality crap there?
I was gonna complain about morons scheduling their lives around fictional characters, but then remembered that I needed to be home on a Friday night to find out what happened to Starbuck and Baltar.
TWOP's "Supporting Characters that we Hate." Randy Jackson and Mohinder. One has exquisite command of the English language and one has a "word a day" calendar that only runs for 3 weeks, yet neither says anything comprehensible. And here are their Best Sidekicks. (I think personally, Cameron and Sam & Fi would be most useful).
Den of Geek lists Top 10 English psychopaths in American movies.
A chat with Johnny Galecki of Big Bang Theory.
Chuck Lorre's title card addresses the current economic downturn. With references to Skynet and Cylons.
Awesome Toby Ng charts. And I feel better about my place in the flame.
More about HIMYM with Mo Ryan.
And now, a quick break for politics:
Coach Richt is in it for the long haul. I say "huzzah."
Cinematical lists & TV Stars Who Should Be In More Movies.
Jason Whitlock speaks the truth about "The Answer."
Most quotable movies?
Forbes looks at what TV shows make the most money.

And now, a quick break for politics:
- I understand the frustration behind the tea parties, but the loonies turning out aren't doing the excessive taxation movement any favors.
- Anti-equality bigot Maggie Gallagher, the "brains" behind the idiotic "gathering storm" video, seems tone deaf in more ways than one. This is funny.
- National Review recently had a stupefying and intolerant editorial against equality. Several thoughts on that are here, here and here.
- Newsweek looks at the "end of Christian America."
- On the same subject, Hitchens completely dismantles some poor stammering boob.
Coach Richt is in it for the long haul. I say "huzzah."

I'll take potpourri for $5,700, Alex
The deleted Twilight scene. Ha!
The 10 Ugliest baseball unis of the 70s. Shield your eyes.
10 Funniest Freudian slips on TV. It's a good watch, and all the clips are short and to the point. (Trivia: the lovely lady who says "cock" in #5 is the wife of the current NFL commissioner).
TV Guides claims these are the 20 greatest TV catchphrases.
The best minor league baseball promotion ever. Matt Foley would be proud.
Bryan Fuller fesses up about why Heroes blew. (Blows?)
Oh, Boy! Scott Bakula talks about the 20th anniversary of Quantum Leap. (And who knew that Chuck's General Beckman was married to Enterprise's Doctor Phlox?)
I twittered this, but it's too funny not to reference again: Joe Cocker. Translated with subtitles.
Iowa uses common sense, and some conservatives think it's hard to be "Christian" in public now. So sorry about the potential public scorn directed at bigotry. Sullivan reacts here. The American Spectator calls equal marriage rights "a hill to die on." And what does this mean, politically, to the evangelical right?
100 classic movie lines in 200 seconds.
10 characters Zooey Deschanel should have played.
First Taun Taun sleeping bags, and now this? Why wasn't I a geek child in this era?
Why didn't he just pray, and have god magically fix it so he doesn't look like an al dente noodle in a windstorm in slow motion?
Chicago Trib looks at why NCIS is so appealing. It's weird, I feel the same way. I was looking for an "easy" procedural to watch when I was going to bed, and my TiVo recommended NCIS. I had never given it much thought, but started watching thanks to the USA repeats, and next thing you know, I had seen every episode. At first, you're a little nonchalant and incredulous. How long will Ducky's stories go on? How much can Gibbs glower? What's with the boat in the basement? Is Tony going to shamelessly flirt and quote movies in every episode? Is McGee Neo? Israeli to English doesn't really result in those kinds of malaprops, does it? Is this the sunniest and least hardcore goth chick ever? But after a while, you just come to welcome these characters onto your TV. Yeah, it's kind of square, but oddly addicting.
Zap2It looks at 10 good questions in preparation for tonight's Lost (though I don't think we'll get them all answered, of course).
10 "Wives Tales" debunked.

How much of Lost has now been affected by a sandwich?
DirecTV will be showing some canceled series. (I loved Eyes, which I thought deserved a much longer run).
The Blade Runner ending. Deckard? Yep, Replicant.
50 great "finishing moves" from the movies.
A Lego, musical version of Silence of the Lambs? Of course. It puts the lotion in the fucking basket!!
Interview with Nathan Fillion.
Talk about a narrow built in audience. I think I'm one of the only people on the planet who remembers, and actually had and played with, this toy now becoming a movie.
A chat with Jane Espenson.
TWOP looks at BSG's unanswered questions.
The best DSLs in Hollywood. (And no, that doesn't have anything to do with an internet connection).
You know, this explains a LOT.
Matt Stafford's parents got a divorce when he was a kid. And I'm sure that led to Georgia Tech rushing for 700 yards in the second half, too.
The Suicide Girls weren't particularly enamored with the BSG finale.
10 Sexiest "Damsels in Distress?" MJ hotter than Princess Leia? And even though Spider-Man 3 blew chunks, Gwen Stacy was hotter than MJ. There's really a lot to disagree with in this list.
Still can't get enough Battlestar?
An in-depth analysis of and conversation about, a very underrated sci-fi remake, Solaris. I unashamedly love this movie.
Not sure I agree with the choices, but here's a list of the 25 Best and Worst TV episode titles.
Pure concentrated awesome: Vintage Dharma Ads.
The lovely and talented Alicia Witt will guest on The Mentalist. (I actually watched a painful majority of 88 Minutes on a movie channel the other day because she had a significant role. Truly a terrible, terrible flick).
io9 looks at crazy space racists!
Ron Moore's script for The Thing prequel is getting shelved. Now, the alien no longer appears on Earth to kill and maim an Antarctic expedition because "God wanted it to."
Photos probably forthcoming from Columbus, GA.
io9 tries to sort out Terminator timelines. Get migraine meds ready.
Pajiba checks back in on Dollhouse, and finds it lacking. (Personally, I thought the last couple of episodes, particularly "Man on the Street," were terrific).
The "reboot" hasn't even premiered yet, and the writers are signed for a Trek sequel.
Noted comedy writer Ken Levine has found a letter Lost's Juliet has written to her sister back home.
Economic times are tough, and people are "trading down" on spirits. Is there any difference between the vodkas? (Personally, I keep a bottle of Ketel One for dry martinis, and some cheap stuff for everything else. You absolutely, no pun intended, can't tell the difference in vodkas in Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers).

Also, please make sure your nuclear reactor is properly shielded when you order a Frosty

Okay, I'm out running some errands last week, and I decide to swing through the Wendy's drive thru for a quick burger. I place my order, drive up to the window, and this is the huge sign I see plastered on it.
You're fucking kidding me, right?
I'm in my own car. That I paid for with my own money. Which is insured with my own money. Which is fueled by my own gas, which I also pay for. At a drive thru window, obtaining food, which I also pay for. And all these things are taxed out the ass as it is. (Not to mention the exorbitant taxes on the ciggies I might have been smoking in my car at the drive thru window where I was the fucking customer). I'm not sitting in the middle of the of the dining room, with other patrons in close proximity, who may or may not smoke, lighting up a huge fucking cubano or toking off a hooka. I'm in my own car, with the wind whistling around us, and the window only open to receive the burger that I was paying for, and I'm greeted with this shit?
Let me get this straight. The local politicos are so worried about second hand smoke from someone in their own car, wafting out of a car window, through the strong breeze, across a three foot expanse, and into the Star Trek Enterprise-esque auto sealing window of a fucking fast food drive thru, and harming the workers? The workers that spend 8 hour (or more) shifts in close quarters with griddles and deep fryers and probably go home covered in enough grease to lubricate all the engines in all the aircraft carriers in the US Navy? Because that poof of smoke that makes its way out of my car, through the wind and into the window which is open for a total of about 15 seconds might cause irreparable harm to their totally healthy, oh so vulnerable meat sack?
I was tempted to put the car in park, eat my burger at the window, and enjoy smoking an entire pack of Marlboros as a post-meal treat with all the windows (and the sun roof!) open, then write a "fuck you" check for $250.

I'm just going to close my eyes and put my hands over my ears and chant "lalalalalalala" and totally ignore the financial machinations of Fox, which might delay the release of Watchmen on its scheduled date. And instead, watch two new videos: A featurette on story and characters, and a look at the making of the iconic "Minutemen" photo. (in Quicktime)
An awesome recap of i09's 2008 "triviagasms."
Lost fonts and logos!
Happy birthday, my favorite hairstyle (er, just to be clear, not for me).
Mandel's early preseason top 10. The plague of evil is number one. And since it's a Mandel column, UGA is nowhere to be seen. Anyone else have that vague "2005" feeling yet? 2004 was the swan song of some celebrated players, and there were great expectations that fell short that year. The next year, we flew a bit under the radar and took care of business. Too soon?
Betty Draper looking smoking hot.
AJ Green voted to all-freshman team (along with Julio Jones). So who was the SEC freshman of the year? Depends on who you ask. Coaches say AJ. AP says Julio.
The top 500 worst (aka "most common") passwords of all time. Evidently, the list was compiled from people that have no imagination, like their own name, are geeks (NCC1701!) and enjoy casual profanity. A funny list to peruse.
Statistical savant Bill James on why the computer models used for the BCS suck.
Apple's latest and greatest:
Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard
Young John Connor talks about the upcoming eppys of T:TSSC, and addresses one of my (few) complaints (too many terminators coming back from the future).
A dog, and elephant, and....aaaawwwwwwww. Sniff.
Recap of this week's Mentalist eppy. A good reason why this show is resonating: it delved into the arc, but upended "regular procedural expectations." When Jane decided he was going after Red John, as a viewer we've been conditioned to think that Lisbon would have a big argument with him and try to talk him out of it. Instead, she was supportive. I like the team here, and it makes this procedural better than average.
The Breakfast Cereal Club. Hilarious.
Interview with Lisa of "Wendy and Lisa" fame. Hot, talented, funny AND a comic-book fan? Awesome.
Let's just make sure we understand the truth: it's NOT a "tax cut" if you don't pay taxes. (It's theft and welfare at gunpoint). It makes my blood boil that the mainstream media ALWAYS overlooks this point. And why do breeders get more of everyone's money? It's a fucking choice.
A baseball writer has some thoughts about Dale Murphy for the HOF.
A little light reading for all the "climate change" and "global warming" nuts. And a prominent politician doesn't toe the "politically correct" line. Good for him.
I love the whole "houndstooth" thing at 'Bama. Look at the gloves.
A pretty misogynistic and disgusting look at dating from one of those "pick up artist" types. But underneath all the disturbing and offensive rhetoric, is there perhaps a kernel of truth? I can probably pick out one horrific and life-wrecking moment from my past, and think that in hindsight, I should have taken the "Danger Will Robinson!" warning signs seriously. Sigh.
And along the same lines, Micheal K never fails to crack me up.
Where were these teachers when I was in school?
An NFL draftnik is a little surprised after doing an analysis of Matt Stafford.
Top 25 fictional ads in sci-fi.
Is this the first step in Skynet and the rise of the machines?

Is this the first step in Skynet and the rise of the machines?
Good list of 14 disastrous revamps.

Who would be that stupid?
By now, I'm sure everyone has heard the story of one Ashley Todd, the 20 year old who claimed she was attacked by a 6'4" black man, who became so enraged that she had a McCain/Palin bumper sticker on her car, that he robbed her at an ATM and carved a backwards 'B' on her face.
Many things in the story didn't make sense. Why didn't she call police immediately? Why did she wait 45 minutes to report the attack, from a friend's apartment? If she's standing at an ATM, why would the robber only take $60? Why would the attacker be looking at bumper stickers, and how would he know that the car featuring the GOP sticker was hers? Why would he carve a 'B' on her face (presumably for 'Barack') instead of an 'O?' Isn't an 'O' easier to carve than a 'B?' Wouldn't a 'B' be just about the toughest letter to carve in the whole damned alphabet? Why did he carve it backwards? Was he behind her, dragging her to the nearest storefront mirror to do his carving, and didn't realize the letter wasn't facing the right way (see, if he had carved an 'O,' he could have avoided the whole backwards letter thing). Do most committed ATM robbers/political assailants only carry dull knives? And if the attacker, supposedly an Obama supporter, really wanted to hurt the McCain fan, couldn't he have just waited a couple of months until his candidate's tax policies went into effect, and dimwitted Ashley went back to that ATM only to find that all her money had already been siphoned off to the federal government?
Obviously, the story was exposed as a complete and total fraud. But who would be STUPID enough to think that this whole charade would fly, even for a minute? Who could possibly be that monumentally IDIOTIC?
As they say, every picture tells a story:

With a sweatshirt like that, you don't even need a caption. Oh, I get it.
On a related note, the Tide rolls in Knox-Vegas. Was that the Great Pumpkin's last game in the rivalry? (Note: 5XL sweatervest not included in crime fabrication kit).

Who wants leftovers?
Stuff I didn't get to last night:
UGA legend Dan McGill thinks Matt Stafford might have the strongest arm he's ever seen (and "might" throw it 100 yards one day). Three strongest QB arms I've ever seen in person (in no particular order): Matt Stafford, Mike Vick, Jeff George (hopefully, one of these things is not like the others).
SI's Mandel on the "failure status" of Darth Visor.
Two of my favorites: Richard Dawkins on Christopher Hitchens.
"Robin Hood Economics:" Obama's tax plan. Of course, McCain does social engineering as well, proposing reducing the confiscation rate on people who bring more strollers, screaming and mini-vans into the world.
Celebrity atheists.
Can you make a Libertarian case for Palin? I'm not so sure.
Scroll to the bottom, and you'll find the insanely catchy soundtrack to Dr. Horrible on the Billboard chart at 39 (even more impressive, since it was iTunes only).
New DVD release for a totally underrated show.
Nice interview with one of the creators of How I Met Your Mother.
If you believe in "global warming," here's an easy solution: 1500 robotic ships cruising the seas.
Tech Porn: evolution of the CrackBerry.
Alec Baldwin (great actor, top-shelf SNL host and real-life nutjob) spews the crazy in an 8,000 word New Yorker profile, and insults My Name is Earl. Earl creator Greg Garcia responds. Funny.
Last week, I read this Atlanta Falcons season profile after a few too many IPTs, and was crying because it was so funny. In the cold, sober light of day, I still think it's a masterwork. Read and enjoy.
TiVos save relationships. I have 4 of them, but did I miss one of their service updates? Or is there a button to delete the lying and whoring?
More on the instant-classic finale of the summer's best show, The Middleman, can be found here and here.

"I didn't get there by just eating mooseburgers and popping out kids!"
In the midst of all the partisan hysteria (on both sides) about the Republican Veep pick, I stumbled across this and it made me laugh out loud. (Probably NSFW with sound up).

I'll take potpourri for $2,400, Alex
Have y'all seen the early concept and make up tests for The Joker? There's some creepy stuff in there, but all things considered, I think they wound up with the best possible result for Heath's look in The Dark Knight.
Brad Pitt is officially on board for QT's Inglorious Bastards, and the rest of the cast could shape up nicely.
Casting for Lost.
Sci-Fi Wire's Top 10 Brilliant But Canceled*. 1 and 2 are just fine in my book. (And by "just fine," I mean that they deserve to be at the top of the list -- not that it was fine that they were euthanized because the drooling masses just didn't get it).
*"Canceled is one of those words I always want to misspell. Doesn't it seem like there should be another "l" at the end? Cancelled. Doesn't that look better? Like "judgment." Shouldn't it be "judgement?" I remember seeing T2 in the theatre, and when the credits came up, I was like "holy shit! They misspelled the title!"
Time article about the Jamaica Bay plane crash -- a real life event that played a prominent role in last Sunday's brilliant Mad Men.
Hamlet: The Facebook news feed edition. Fucking Funny.
Seized at a traffic stop. Can't we just kill ourselves cheaply? Christ on a cracker, I hate this state. Better yet, wouldn't it have been cool if this van had wrecked, and I had been behind it in traffic? "Help me. I'm pinned under the van. Can you call an ambulance?" "Sorry dude. I'm just picking up some free smokes." (on a related note, I hope no one inspects my duffle bags coming back from GA next month).

Speaking of smoky treats, on a lark I signed up for some online promotion Marlboro was running. I didn't win a grand prize or anything, and forgot about it. However, when I got home last night, I found a package in the mailbox. It was a delightful "thank you for killing yourself slowly" gift.
The creator of the awesome summer show, The Middleman, talks to IO9. The season finale is going to feature an alternate universe, complete with goatees! And if the unthinkable happens, and the show is not renewed, what can fans do? Hmmmmmm. Plus, more appreciation for this hard to define treat.
Great extended interview with the creator of House.
Charles Van Doren, of the infamous quiz show scandals, opens up in a first person essay.
A very interesting look at the "Top 20 Albums of All Time." I think I have them all, except for Metallica.
Wait, if something is 55 million years old, does that make it older than 6,000 years old? Huh. Speaking of which, this made me giggle. Too bad I've already devoted that same automotive real estate to my alma mater.
And talking about the alma mater, welcome to the Bulldog portion of our broadcast:
An amusing and fairly comprehensive run down of "Artificial Intelligence & Human Buddy Comedy Pairings."

A clip has surfaced from the Buffy animated series concept. Cute. A few years ago, I ordered a coffee mug with this image:

7 and 24 seem to have their heads screwed on straight.Battlestar Galactica movie is officially happening. Jane Espenson writing, EJO directing, and the focus will be on the cylons. Awesome.
Will AJ Green live up to the hype? CMR seems impressed (and tells some interesting FSU stories). Also, Green outrunning Stafford's arm? Really? Was it a post pattern to Lawrenceville?
Uh-oh. Stewart Mandel opens up the can of worms again.
Carson Palmer says that 7 will be the first pick in the draft next year. Let's hope not. I want another year 'tween the hedges.
Online chat with Coach Richt.

I'll take potpourri for $2,300, Alex
Joss talks about "nurture vs. nature" on Dollhouse. And here's a more extensive interview with him from The Hollywood Reporter.
If "dogs and cats living together!" is a harbinger of a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man apocalypse, then the big guy may be on his way. This is just too damned cute.
Remembrances of being a spoiled only child. Every time I see one of these "retro toys," I always go "I had that one."
Speaking of GI Joe, have you ever wondered what a remake of John Carpenter's The Thing would look like filmed using GI Joe toys? Well, wonder no more. Awesome.
A Wonderfalls character (and maybe more than one!) will turn up on TV again. Damn, I loved that show.
An excellent summary of Mad Men's S2 premiere. After all the anticipation, it certainly didn't disappoint. And all the good buzz paid off: the show doubled last year's average viewership. Here's a video interview with the unbelievably gorgeous Christina Hendricks.
Al Gore's son will only date chicks with the initials "LL."
Along those lines, calculate your Ecological Footprint! My result:
In praise of Dana Scully.
As if we needed another example of the theocracy's idiocy.
Here's a great podcast interview with Mark Sheppard (Romo Lampkin from BSG, Badger from Firefly). Funny, prickly, insightful dude, and he talks about the brilliance of BSG, complete dysfunction on the set of Bionic Woman, and an upcoming appearance on my favorite summer show, The Middleman. (Which, like me, he compares to the sadly short-lived The Tick).
The Jorts Jesus won't have his reputation sullied by Playboy. Because, of course, he wouldn't want to sully his reputation by associating with anything risque. So I guess he'll just have to drop out of school and go give circumcisions in third-world countries, now that this list has been published, right? On moral grounds?
Damn, Whoopi gets around. She should move here, where they would just call her "amateur."
More AV Club recaps of Buffy, S2, including an appreciation for the darkly ambitious and heart-rending "Passion."
Matt Stafford: "Overrated" or "The Truth?"
Is DJ Shockley making strides in Falcons camp? (No word from Lou Holtz on how JD Stokely is performing).

"If everyone lived like you, we'd need 8.1 Planet Earths to provide enough resources."And that's before I've purchased a new home here, opened up a new paper mill or told the checkout clerk at Harris-Teeter to use 1 sack per item with my groceries.
"To support your lifestyle, it takes 36.1 global acres of the Earth's productive area."
In praise of Dana Scully.
